Thought bubbles for cheaper

I've always envied those adorable wood chalkboard thought bubbles that I've seen online...there are some really cool ones out there! But we're only experimenting with a home made photo booth next weekend and I wasn't ready to invest in buying one quite yet...so I looked around to see what I had in my house. I just painted one of my doors with chalkboard paint and just happened to have half of the pint left over - Sweet! I could have run to the craft store for some foam core but that was not enough motivation to get all my kids in the car and into the store....SO I grabbed some of the really thick cardboard from one of the many diaper boxes that are frequently found in our garage and tested it out.
Worked like a charm. So this is for if you've ever wondered, like I did, if chalkboard paint works on cardboard. The answer is YES! AND you might be a random, short cut lovin', crafter like me.  It's not the most sturdy thing in the world but for our purposes, it will do just fine. For anyone who is thinking about trying this or cares, I did paint about 3 coats on each side with a small paint roller so there weren't brush strokes and I did use the sturdiest, thickest cardboard we had in the garage...it was a Costco sized diaper box. Those suckers are handy.
